REGULAR PUBLIC MEETING OF THE ELOY FIRE DISTRICT BOARD
September 14, 2015
- Call to order and confirmation of quorum: A meeting of the Board was called to order by Chairman Brenda Straw at the Eloy Fire District Administration office, located at 4010 N. Toltec Road, Eloy, Arizona at 1800 hours on Monday, September 14, 2015. A quorum was confirmed with four members present: Brenda Straw, Luis Ybarra, Belinda Akes, and Edward Sauceda.
- Pledge of allegiance. Chairman Brenda Straw led the pledge of allegiance.
- Call to the Public: No members of the public addressed the board.
- Consent Agenda:
- A. Minutes of the regular district meeting on August 10, 2015.
- B. Financial Statements
- C. Approval of Warrants
- The Board reviewed the Minutes, Financial Statements, and Warrants. MOTION made by Belinda Akes to approve the consent agenda. SECONDED by Brenda Straw. MOTION PASSED (4 Ayes 0 Nays).
- Executive Session
- None.
- Business
- A. Review, discussion, and possible action on approving IGA with Arizona Forestry. Fire Chief Coy Amerson explained that this agreement was last done in the 1990’s and is being updated. It has been reviewed and approved by the County Attorney. MOTION made by Edward Sauceda to approve the IGA with Arizona Forestry. SECONDED by Brenda Straw. MOTION PASSED (4 Ayes, 0 Nays).
- B. Review, discussion and possible action on approving proposal from Burden Electric and APS to change lighting in stations. Chief Amerson explained that the lighting change should help save the District approximately $7,500 per year in utility costs. MOTION made by Belinda Akes to approve the proposal for lighting with Burden Electric and APS. SECONDED by Brenda Straw. MOTION PASSED (4 Ayes 0 Nays).
- NOTE: Board member Mary Jane Damron arrived at the meeting. Five members of the board are now in attendance.
- C. Review, discussion, and possible action on revising SOG 101.06, to extend residency requirement for sworn firefighters to 160 Miles. MOTION made by Edward Sauceda to revise SOG 101.06 to extend the residency requirement to 160 miles for firefighters. SECONDED by Brenda Straw. MOTION PASSED (5 Ayes 0 Nays).
- D. Review, discussion and possible action on Blue Cross/Blue Shield rebates to employees. Chief Amerson explained the rebate, and that it is proportionately split out. MOTION made by Mary Jane Damron to approve rebates as listed on the attachment for a total of $204.45. SECONDED by Brenda Straw. MOTION PASSED (5 Ayes 0 Nays).

- B. Fire Marshal Report. Fire Marshal Bob Poindexter presented his monthly report.
