REGULAR PUBLIC MEETING OF THE ELOY FIRE DISTRICT BOARD
October 10, 2022
- Call to order and confirmation of quorum. A meeting of the Board was called to order by Board Chairperson Belinda Akes at the Eloy Fire District Administration office, located at 4010 N. Toltec Road, Eloy, Arizona at 1800 hours on Monday, October 10, 2022. A quorum was confirmed with four members present: Edward Sauceda, Tom Cortez, Toni Lorona Carlson, and Belinda Akes. Board members Tom Cortez and Edward Sauceda attended remotely.
- Pledge of allegiance. Board Chair Belinda Akes led the pledge of allegiance.
- Call to the Public: No members of the public addressed the board.
- Consent Agenda:
- A. Minutes of the regular district meeting on September 12, 2022.
- B. Financial Statements.
- C. Approval of Warrants.
- Assistant Chief Robert Maestas provided the Board Members with a recap of the financial activity to date for this fiscal year. The Board reviewed the Minutes, Financial Statements, and Warrant List. MOTION made by Edward Sauceda to approve the Consent Agenda Items A, B, and C. SECONDED by Toni Lorona Carlson. MOTION PASSED (4 Ayes: Akes, Lorona Carlson, Sauceda, and Cortez; 0 Nays.

- Business
- A. Review, discussion and possible action on 2022 F350 Ford Super Duty pickup. Assistant Chief Maestas explained that this would be a replacement for the Battalion Chief vehicle. MOTION made by Toni Lorona Carlson to approve the purchase of the 2022 F350 Ford Super Duty pickup. SECONDED by Edward Sauceda. MOTION PASSED (4 Ayes: Akes, Lorona Carlson, Sauceda, and Cortez; 0 Nays).
- B. Review, discussion and possible action on purchase of three Lucas 3, v3.1 chest compression devices. Assistant Chief Maestas explained that these are grant funded as a pass-through Pinal County with funding originating from the Gila River Indian Community. Approval will provide a device for each front-line ambulance in the District. MOTION made by Edward Sauceda to approve the purchase of three Lucas chest compression devices. SECONDED by Tom Cortez. MOTION PASSED (4 Ayes: Akes, Lorona Carlson, Sauceda, and Cortez; 0 Nays).
- C. Review, discussion and possible action on annexation request for parcel 401-51-007D from Gustavo Bencomo & Rosa Mendoza. MOTION made by Toni Lorona Carlson to approve the annexation request for parcel 401-51-007D. SECONDED by Edward Sauceda. MOTION PASSED (4 Ayes: Akes, Lorona Carlson, Sauceda, and Cortez; 0 Nays).

- A. Division Chief Report. Division Chief Nate Bailey presented his monthly report.
- B. Fire Chief Report. Assistant Chief Maestas reported that the Battalion Chiefs have moved into their new quarters.

- Adjournment. MOTION made by Tom Cortez to adjourn. SECONDED by Edward Sauceda. MOTION PASSED (4 Ayes: Akes, Lorona Carlson, Sauceda, and Cortez; 0 Nays). Chairperson Akes adjourned the meeting at 1814 hours.
